Wisconsin Farmer and Author of the New Book, Russ Allen, Wins Millions in Utility Lawsuit
De Pere, WI, May 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- After millions of dollars lost, a series of misfortunes and the mysterious sickness and death of numerous cows, farm owner Russ Allen discovered that the trouble with his livestock was brought on by electrical pollution of the earth.

In his new book, Electrocution of America: Is Your Utility Company Out to Kill You?, Mr. Allen exposes Wisconsin Public Service’s refusal to acknowledge the damages it did to his farm—and its refusal to mitigate its electrical voltages. The local utility dumped its stray current into the earth as a result of an improperly wired distribution system, and contaminated Mr. Allen’s farm.

“When the utility refused to acknowledge its guilt and mitigate the damages, I gambled my last financial reserves in court,” says Mr. Allen.

In November 2000, Mr. Allen filed suit against Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS), alleging that the utility company negligently permitted stray electric currents to harm his cows. He also claimed that its distribution system was causing a nuisance.

“The problem of electrical pollution has become so widespread that three prominent universities sponsored seminars to teach utility personnel how to ’correctly’ testify in court in favor of utility companies.”

Electrocution of America: Is Your Utility Company Out to Kill You? details the courtroom battle that took place from May through June 2003. In the end, the jury determined that stray electric currents from WPS’ distribution system did cause harm to Mr. Allen’s dairy farm, and that WPS’ negligence was to blame.

The heated Allen v. Wisconsin Public Service Corporation trial went on for months and was even appealed, but ended in a $2 million victory for Mr. Allen.

“Because utilities have open checkbooks, and because our legislators are some of their beneficiaries, it is very difficult to get anywhere,” says Mr. Allen. “The public needs to let their legislator know how it is going to be—or else.”

Russ Allen is one of the heirs to the Allen Dairy Farm outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and a leader in the movement against the electrical pollution of animals.
