As complex surgical instruments replace simpler surgical instruments for minimally invasive surgery and faster recovery time for patients, advanced education is required to insure the sterile processing of these complex surgical instruments. Sadly, 290,000 patients suffer surgical site infections mostly from the use of contaminated surgical instruments every year.
