Author, Joan Berry, recently revised The Homesteaders: Early Settlers of Nokomis and Laurel to add new material and update previous information. The original book was published in 1979 sold out for each of its three successive printings. The Homesteaders is not a cut-and-dried history. It offers a good read and an accurate look into a period of Florida history whose pioneers come alive on the pages.
