Mascot Challenge Sets Stage for Finale of 2008 YES! Expo and All Event Proceeds Benefit Collin College’s Education Foundation

New initiatives to garner excitement and interest about YES! have been added such as the “Collin County Mascot Challenge” and the advisory board is teaming up with the Collin College Education Foundation to endow a scholarship fund for a Collin County student-athlete.

Plano, TX, August 23, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Youth sports activities and health initiatives are the focus of the 2nd Annual Collin County YES! Expo at Collin Creek Mall on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008 from 10am-3:00pm. All event proceeds benefit Collin College’s Education Foundation.

New initiatives to garner excitement and interest about the event include the “Collin County Mascot Challenge.” YES! is calling all Collin County sports team mascots (high school, college, and pro) for the highly anticipated challenge. Selected mascots will take center stage as they showcase their best moves in a thrilling dance-off for the finale of the expo. The winner will be crowned as Collin County’s “Supreme Mascot.”

The expo serves as a one-stop shop for parents - providing families an opportunity to learn more about various programs, techniques, equipment, safety concerns and social/teamwork skills garnered through sport participation. As the expo advisory board prepares for a capacity crowd of organizations and attendees, they are also focusing on fun and giving back to the community.

While having fun is key, the YES! advisory board decided to take the event a step further this year. The board is teaming up with the Collin College Education Foundation to endow a scholarship fund for a Collin County student-athlete. The proceeds from this year’s event will seed the fund, and help propel the success of a future collegiate student-athlete.

As the YES! Expo continues to grow, it is guaranteed that this family event will be fun, educational and continue to foster the importance of giving back.

About YES!: YES! provides the young people of Collin County an introduction to the people, sports and physical activities that are offered by organizations in our community. Public, private, competitive, recreational and individual sport organizations are invited to participate in the Expo.

The mission of Collin County YES! is to create awareness of and increase participation in activities that foster healthier lives for the young people of our community.
