Contingency Solutions, LLC Promotes Disaster Readiness During National Preparedness Month

Business continuity planning firm Contingency Solutions is encouraging businesses of all sizes to consider what would happen to their company and employees in the event of a disaster. As part of National Preparedness Month 2008 it is offering low cost solutions and guidance to reverse the trend that 75% of businesses without a business continuity plan will fail within 3 years of a disaster.

Plainsboro, NJ, September 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As hurricanes bear down on the U.S. coast, tornados cut through the mid-west and we mark the anniversary of the horrific events of September 11, 2001, we are reminded that disasters come in different forms. Yet statistics cite the fact that only 32% of businesses have a disaster preparedness plan in place.

National Preparedness Month Coalition Member Contingency Solutions, LLC is working hard to lower that statistic by offering low cost business continuity planning services to small and medium sized companies during the month of September.

Company President Peter Oppenheim comments “We need to get the message out that having a plan doesn’t need to be difficult or expensive. It’s unacceptable to have so many businesses fail when we can do something to prevent it. That’s what this initiative is all about.”

“Disasters can come in many forms. A minor inconvenience for one company may be a disaster for another. Owners need to assess where they are most vulnerable and address the exposure,” Oppenheim said.

Business owners typically think of emergency preparedness as being an IT issue, but Contingency Solutions aims to increase awareness of the fact that simply backing up data is not enough. The loss of a location, a key supplier or distribution channel, or even a key employee can be devastating to an operation. The time to do something about this is now, before the loss.

Insurance, while essential, will not keep a business running in the critical hours and days immediately following an interruption. Only a considered business continuity plan can meet that vital need.

National Preparedness Month is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Ready Campaign.
