Iona Moon Launches 8(a) Seaport-e Proposal Services

Navy Opens Seaport-e to 8(a)s. Proposal Services Firm Ramps Up.

Lexington Park, MD, September 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Iona Moon, LLC announced today it will stand up an 8(a) proposal services division in the wake of the Navy’s announcement to conduct a special rolling admission for Seaport-e.

In July, the Small Business Administration signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the United States Navy allowing 8(a) set-aside contract work to be competed on Seaport-e. On September 3, 2008, the Navy announced it would release a solicitation for a rolling admission exclusively for 8(a) firms. The Navy had previously announced there would be no rolling admission until 2010.

Seaport-e is the Navy’s mandatory contract vehicle for the procurement of engineering and other services. It includes such authorized purchasers as NAVAIR, NAVSEA, SPAWAR, NAVSUP, ONR, and USMC, among others, including some key joint acquisition programs.

“To meet the demand of the thousands of Small Disadvantaged Businesses now eligible to compete for a Seaport-e prime contract award, we have increased proposal development capacity, bringing on skilled proposal managers and technical writers until the end of the year. There are myriad formatting and compliance issues, and it can be daunting for a small business. We haven’t lost one yet, and I look forward to seeing many 8(a) primes on Seaport-e in 2009.” Lee Moon, President.
