Juli Betwee, managing partner of Pivot.Point Consulting and author of “Building Strategic Relationships,” will present: Going for Growth. Since 1985, Pivot.Point and their partners have worked with growth-minded leaders in hundreds of Fortune 100 and emerging businesses to think bigger and differently about possibilities for their businesses.
Women-owned businesses have experienced remarkable growth throughout Long Beach and across the country. As of 2004, there are an estimated 334,939 privately-held, 50% or more women-owned firms in Long Beach, accounting for 42.9% of all privately held firms in the metropolitan area, generating more that $113 billion in sales employing 702,019 people.
The WPO was founded by Dr. Marsha Firestone as the first forum for women business owners who have guided a business to at least $2 million in annual sales (or at least $1 million for service-based businesses). It has become “the ultimate destination for women in business” with over 900 members in 59 chapters throughout North America.
The WPO provides the opportunity for successful business owners to meet with a small group of other successful women business owners on a monthly basis, in a confidential setting. Members have the opportunity to share experience, benefit from expertise, participate in peer advisory sessions, and focus on current business issues.
“In the last month, the WPO has added 50 new women presidents to our membership,” said Firestone. “More than ever, women entrepreneurs are recognizing each others successes and connecting as peers. We are very excited about our expansion in Long Beach, and hope that the local women presidents take advantage of this valuable resource.”
