Williamstown, MA, September 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Incoming freshmen for the 2009-2010 school year will find the cost of a private, Catholic education within their reach. The Dion Family Foundation will be offering ten $4,000 scholarships to new students enrolling at St. Dominic Regional High School in September of 2009. Each of the ten students selected will be eligible for $1,000 each of their four years at St. Dom’s. Also for the graduating class of 2009, a $40,000 scholarship to attend St. Michael’s College will be available to no more than two St. Dom’s graduates over four years.

“Catholic education has been one of the cornerstones of my life,” says Don Dion (St. Dom’s class of 1972), president and founder of the Dion Family Foundation. “It is our goal to do something significant to insure that those who want a Catholic education have access to one. As an Alumnus of both St. Michael’s College and St. Dom’s, this seemed a logical place to begin.”

“The generosity of the Dion Family Foundation will make a tangible and real impact on a number of students each year, said St. Dom’s Principal Donald Fournier. “Many families believe that a Catholic, college preparatory education is beyond their reach. These two programs will insure that students will be able to afford not only a Catholic secondary education, but have access to a post-secondary career as well.”

Founded in 1941, St. Dominic Regional High School is home to almost 300 students. St. Dom’s offers a variety of merit and need based scholarships and tuition assistance to its students with the goal that anyone who wants to come to St. Dom’s is able. Last year, 98% of graduating seniors went on to college. For more information about St. Dom’s please contact the admissions office at 782-6911 x2110.

The Dion Family Foundation is based in Williamstown, MA and Naples, FL and was founded in 2006 by Donald R. Dion Jr. to support the charitable endeavors of the Dion Family. The families current goals are focused on helping students at St. Dominic Regional High School and St. Michael’s College. Two other members of the Dion Family, Don Dion Sr. (’47) and Joline Dion Bell (’77), are also St. Dom’s Alumni.
