Toronto, Canada, October 01, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- henderson bas, Canada’s most awarded interactive agency today announced the launch of the redesigned CAW Web site.
The CAW site is a source for critical labour news and organization campaigns, as well as serving as a historical archive and research centre for the Canadian Auto Workers union, media, the academic community and the broader public. CAW’s decision to revamp the massive site was primarily based on a desire to restructure and streamline the 5000 plus page site ensuring that its comprehensive labour news and information could be easily retrieved and updated. The Web site redesign includes a complete creative refresh and the addition of several new interactive elements that leverage the latest web technologies. A major reorganization of the site content and layout was undertaken in order to ensure that site navigation was an intuitive experience for the user.
The challenge of the new creative was to ensure that the CAW’s brand tenants were always well represented while also making the site a welcoming and friendly place for all visitors. With any large content-heavy web site, a robust search component is absolutely critical, and this was addressed by incorporating a sophisticated search engine that could handle large volume of content in a variety of different formats. A major part of the project was the implementation of a Content Management System (CMS) to organize and provide the ability for the CAW to seamlessly update and add to the vast amount of information contained on the site. A comprehensive CMS solution called RedDot was implemented and allowed the CAW to manage multiple style templates, permission workflow, content versioning, and content scheduling.
“It’s so important that our union is able to provide workers across the country easy access to helpful and relevant information,” said CAW President Ken Lewenza. “With this new site, we’re able to use some of the latest web technologies to improve our communication and outreach channels with citizens across the country and help us continue to push for socially progressive causes.”
“I think the redesigned site is really a great balance between form and function,” said Dawna Henderson, President & CEO of henderson bas. “We wanted to create a fresh clean look while also ensuring the site remained the number one go to source for Canadian labour information and news.”
