Hollywood Comes Out to Judge Oct. 12 ULMII L.A. Talent Competition Showcase

Hollywood comes out for ULMII Entertainment Conference: Comedian/actress Annie McKnight, rapper/actor Allen Maldonado, talent agent Larry Williams and celebrity fitness trainer Sam Bell serves on the showcase panel

Los Angeles, CA, October 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Hollywood is coming out for the last Los Angeles Uplifting Minds II Entertainment Conference this year on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Comedian/actress Annie McKnight (Heroes), rapper/actor Allen20“Poc Dawone” Maldonado (Young and Restless), and celebrity fitness trainer Sam Bell (Sam Bell Body) will serve on the conference’s panel during the talent competition showcase from 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Annue McKnight is a stand-up comedian who has performed her routines on BET’s Comic View, Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Stand-up Amendment TV show and at the legendary Comedy Store. As an actress McKnight has appeared in the TV series “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Heroes,” and in the new feature film starring Jamie Foxx, “The Soloist,” which hits theaters November 8th.

Celebrity fitness trainer Sam Bell is an accredited fitness trainer, an executive chef, and nutritional consultant. In an attempt to lower his high blood pressure and become healthier, Sam graduated from the National Personal Training Institute and started his training career at Spectrum in Canoga, California where he developed a huge celebrity clientele which includes R&B singer and “indie” label owner Ray J; comedian/actress Luenell (Borat, Comic View); reality celebrity Khloe Kardashian; NBA basketball play20er Gary Grant, and Mike Sable (Mr. Universe).

Though just 25 actor/rapper Allen “Poc Dawone” Maldonado has accomplished a lot. He started out in the entertainment business as a dancer on Soul Train in 1971. He caught the acting bug in high school and by 2002 with the help of a manager he land a role in PBS’ “Mad is on Heights” as a street thug. Allen signed on with agent Bobbie Shaw Chance who handles such celebrities as Drew Barrymore and Hollywood hasn’t stop calling. He has since appeared on The Shield, the hit film “Friday After Next” with Ice Cube and Mike Epps; the feature film “Live Free Die Hard” starring Bruce Willis, and he has a reoccurring role on the Emmy Award winning soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” As a rapper Allen is known as Poc Dawone and is currently promoting his self titled album, “Allen Maldonado.”

Competitors with top scores in each category (vocal, songwriting and dance) will receive the ULMII Award; an image make-over from New York image consultant Angelo llerbee (Mary J Blige); 30 days air-play on Internet radio station Hit Center, courtesy of Tryon Moore; free legal session with Burbank entertainment attorney Richard Jefferson; free voice lesson from New Jersey vocal coach Nadiyah Kareem (Superstar Entertainment); appearance on Platinum Plus TV (Comcast – ATL/Bmore), free consultation on starting your own Internet record label by Founder and CEO of Boosweet Records Vernon Neilly; free music track from Vulcha artist VIP (Dust Dem AFF Entertainment), and a free session with entertainment psychologist Dr. Jamie Ballard.

The entertainment seminars from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. include “entertainment law tips” by attorney Richard Jefferson; “artist branding yourself” by Charles Belk; “artist opportunities in TV” by producer Chris Denson; “the Internet record label” by record label owner Vernon Neily, and “PR/media and promotion strategies” by columnist and PR/promotions consultant Eunice Moseley (Freelance Associates), will be held the same day from 1 – 5 p.m. West Hall 501 (small fee is required).
