Sandhills Habitat Volunteer Floyd Fritz Fireman of the Year
Aberdeen, NC, October 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Habitat for Humanity of NC of the Sandhills prides itself in the dedicated and talented people who make up the volunteer staff for their organization. Their energy and creativity bring to fruition the quality homes so needed by families. Habitat is particularly proud of one of their volunteers.
Deputy Chief Floyd Fritz was awarded the 2008 Fireman of the Year Award on August 30 at the NC State Firemen's Association annual convention in Winston-Salem, NC. Deputy Chief Fritz has traveled throughout NC encouraging the installation of residential fire sprinklers. His knowledge of these life savings technologies has been shared with a variety of people from homeowners to contractors, code officials to community leaders. To this end, he has set the example by installing residential fire sprinklers in Habitat for Humanity homes since the mid 1990's.
On receiving this award Fritz stated,"The Pinehurst Fire Department's residential sprinkler initiative is truly a department effort, where every member has a part, I am only a small part of the whole." Habitat for Humanity of NC of the Sandhills would like to add that his efforts and ingenuity are a "great" part of our home building team and they are most grateful to have Deputy Chief Floyd Fritz as part of our organization.
Habitat for Humanity of the NC Sandhills is a Christian, housing ministry that is able to offer interest-free mortgages to individuals in need of simple, decent housing. We partner with families, volunteers, churches and community organizations to work toward our goal of ending sub-standard housing in the Sandhills.
