Savannah’s MUMC Publicly Shares Patient Outcomes and Satisfaction Scores

Savannah, GA, October 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Memorial University Medical Center (MUMC) is pleased to announce that its patient outcomes data and patient satisfaction scores are now available online at memorialhealth.com. The patient outcomes show how well patients fared after receiving treatment at MUMC. Consumers can use this information when choosing the best hospital and the best healthcare team. The patient satisfaction data is based on actual patient feedback about everything from the cleanliness of the rooms to the quality of the doctors and nurses.

“Not many hospitals make this information so readily available to the general public. Currently, consumers have to search through government or consumer watchdog Web sites to find patient outcomes. At Memorial, we’ve decided to share this information, honestly and unedited. This forces us to continue providing the highest levels of care, and it allows our community to make the best healthcare decisions,” says Marty Scott, M.D., MBA, vice president of quality and patient safety at MUMC.

The quality reports can be accessed by going to memorialhealth.com and choosing “Quality Reports” from the “Guests” menu. The scores show how well MUMC cares for patients who come to us with heart disease, heart attack, pneumonia, or for surgery. These are the conditions measured for all hospitals participating in the nationwide Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration and the Surgical Care Improvement Project. The patient satisfaction scores are available for inpatient, outpatient, day surgery, and emergency care at MUMC. The site will continue to expand as more outcomes are measured.
