U.S. Veteran Founded Web Site Gets Ready for Veterans Day 2008

The largest Web site reuniting U.S. veterans - encourages the community to come together this Veterans Day in support and honor of veterans and military personnel nationwide.

Charleston, SC, October 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Special bonds are formed between U.S. soldiers who have and are serving side by side in the U.S. Armed Forces. These bonds often withstand the test of time precisely because of the unique and often difficult circumstances under which they were formed in the military. With this in mind, a U.S. veteran of Desert Storm created www.VetFriends.com - an online community of over 890,000 U.S. veterans, military, family and friend supporters. The mission of the site: to reunite and support veterans and military personnel.

In 2000, the idea of an online veteran registry came to its veteran founder Dale F. Sutcliffe, during a conversation with his father-in-law, who is a Korean War veteran. When asked whether he would attend a hypothetical reunion with his old Army unit, his father-in-law responded, "I'd be on the next plane to Korea to see those guys." Reflecting on the depth of this reply, Sutcliffe realized those special bonds of military brother and sisterhood often withstand the test of time. Now, those bonds can be reestablished through modern technology.

VetFriends.com features services such as: search over 890,000 members to make contact with old friends and relatives; information on how to obtain your own or a relative's military records and medals that may have been lost; message boards; upload past and present photos; military jokes; search and post reunions, military pride merchandise and more.

Veterans Day 2008 Campaign
As Veterans Day approaches, VetFriends.com is reaching out and asking all Americans to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices and bravery of all who have served our country in times of need.

Efforts include a Veterans Day nationwide parade/event directory, which can be viewed at www.vetfriends.com/parades. Visitors are invited to submit and register community parades and events in the directory to help promote the support of veterans. All listings will be posted on VetFriends.com for over 150,000 visitors per month to view, and circulated through a member newsletter reaching an additional 80,000 people nationwide.

A Veterans Day forum has been developed on the Web site at www.vetfriends.com/veteransday reaching out to veterans and anyone else interested in contributing their thoughts and insights in regard to our military personnel and Veterans Day. These submissions will be posted online in a Veterans Day collection and will be distributed to the media, blogs and social sites.

This year, with the approach of Veterans Day, feelings of thankfulness and respect will fill the hearts of the American people, as the community comes together to celebrate, support and show their gratitude to our veterans and active military soldiers alike.
