Extreme Systems Now Offers Free Electronic Recycling to All Residents of Central Texas

Harker Heights, TX, October 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Keep the electronics & computers out of our landfills. That is the goal of the electronics recycling program launched by Extreme Systems that allows customers to recycle electronics free of charge.

Having worked the last 25 years in the computer industry Greg Moore, the owner of Extreme Systems, knows the toll that throwing away “useless” electronics is having on our environment. Since opening Extreme Systems more than three years ago he has offered many recycling options to his customers but realized that he needed to do more to help his community. “I have lived here all my life. My family has lived here since 1948 and have owned businesses in the area since soon thereafter.” commented Moore when asked about his relationship to the community.

The program helps consumers make more environmentally friendly choices, making it easier for customers to discard used or obsolete electronics in an environmentally responsible way. Customers can drop off unwanted electronics at either of their two locations in Copperas Cove or Harker Heights during business hours. Another option offered for larger quantities is picking up of the unwanted items for those that can not transport the electronic waste to one of their locations. Call or email their main office and they will work to schedule a pick up time at your home or office.

“We hope to collect as much recyclable material as possible. It is our way of demonstrating a shared commitment with the community, by providing outstanding customer service and Free Electronic Recycling." Said Moore.

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, 82 percent of the 2.25 million tons of old TVs, cell phones and computer products generated in the last two years ended up in landfills. By recycling old electronics products, useful materials -- such as glass, plastic and metals can be collected and re-used in the manufacture of other products.

What is not able to be reused is sent to scrap dealers to be consolidated and used in other products. They have a “Zero landfill” Policy meaning that nothing gets thrown in the landfill.
