GBBR Members Take Home Top Honors at Statewide REALTOR® Awards Grove is Maryland REALTOR® of the Year, Marsiglia Awarded Lifetime Achievement Honors

Baltimore, MD, October 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS® (GBBR) is congratulating several of its members who received top honors at the recent Maryland Association of REALTORS® (MAR) awards ceremony:

Katie E. Grove was honored as Maryland’s REALTOR® of the Year. A sales associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Owings Mills, Md, Ms. Grove has been a tireless advocate for the profession. In addition to her service as GBBR’s 2006 president, Ms. Grove is currently serving as a member of the membership, awards and leadership academy committees. She is a 1998 graduate of the MAR Leadership Academy, and has served as the president of Women’s Council. She is currently serving on the MAR Communications and Equal Opportunites Committees and is active at the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), serving on the Federal Housing Policy Committee and as a national director.

Gilbert D. Marsiglia was awarded the MAR Lifetime Achievement Award. As founder and president of Gilbert D. Marsiglia & Company in Lutherville, Md., Mr. Marsiglia has served homebuyers in the Baltimore area for more than 35 years. He is a past president of GBBR and was named as the organization’s 1997 REALTOR® of the year. Mr. Marsiglia was founder and chairman of the board of directors of the GBBR Charitable Foundation and is currently an instructor at GBBR’s School of Real Estate. In 2004 Mr. Marsiglia served a term as president of MAR. He remains an active member of several boards, including GBBR, MAR, and NAR, and is vice chairman of the board of directors of Metropolitan Regional Information Systems (the largest Multiple Listing Service in the United States).

Kim Jones is MAR’s 2008 Rookie REALTOR® of the Year. A broker at Baltimore’s Exit Generations Realty, Ms. Jones has quickly acquired the professional designations to serve clients better, including Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR), Real Estate Buyers Agent Council (REBAC); Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Accredited Staging Professional (ASP), and Workforce Housing Certified (WHC). She is a Live Baltimore Preferred Real Estate Professional, LB-PREP and is working toward the designation of CRS (Certified Residential Specialist). A committed real estate professional, Ms. Jones is an active member of GBBR, MAR, NAR and the Real Estate Million Dollar Association, Ltd.

The GBBR Charitable Foundation received an honorable mention for MAR’s prestigious Community Action and REALTOR® Excellence (CARE) Award. Since 1998, the GBBR Charitable Foundation has provided financial support, in-kind donations of services, expertise and time to organizations and projects that are working to improve Baltimore-area neighborhoods. In recognition of its efforts, the GBBR Charitable Foundation has been honored with the Mayor's Business Recognition Award and a Baltimore County Good Neighbor Week Volunteer Service Award for its civic leadership and outstanding community service.
