Peterborough, NH, October 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The NH High Technology Council and NH Small Business Development Center today announced the award structure for the top businesses at The Speed Venture Summit™.

Fifty of New England’s fastest-growing hot companies have been selected to pitch their growth stories to the region’s leading private capital investors. The five top presenting companies, as ranked by the investors, will qualify to participate in a Pitch-Off, where they will deliver a 1-minute elevator pitch during the networking session. The audience will select the most compelling presentation as the winner.

“We are pleased to announce that, courtesy of our Award Sponsor, ColoSpace, Inc. and the generosity of the inventive folks at Peek, the five finalists will be competing to win the new, super-thin and stylish Peek™ e-mail device, along with other accessories,” said Summit marketing producer Tim Platt. “With these coveted prizes on the line, we are looking forward to the pre-Summit buzz reaching a crescendo level during the Pitch-Off. No techie or business leader is going to want to miss this moment,” he predicted.

“This award structure fits in nicely with our Real Time/Real Investors™ mission,” explained Summit Chair Hollis McGuire, director of the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center for Manchester and Nashua. “This will provide even more incentive for executives of the presenting companies to sharpen their message and tell a compelling story in less than a minute. They will be better prepared as a result for the featured speed-venture segment.”

While the private speed-venturing segment has sold out, there are still some openings for the public networking session that begins at 5 PM, according to Julie Gustafson, the Summit’s PR Director.

Participating companies represent all sectors and development stages, from start-up to later-stage. They will “speed pitch” to 25 of the region’s savviest and shrewdest investors, ranging from individuals and Angel investors to venture capital firms and private equity and mezzanine financers, in private sessions throughout the afternoon. Following the speed venturing segment, the Summit will include a public business networking session, which will kick off with remarks from private capital guru Jeffrey Sohl, Director of the Center for Venture Research and Professor of Entrepreneurship and Decision Sciences at University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics.
The drama of the Pitch-Off will immediately follow Jeff Sohl’s remarks.
