Netrino Releases Embedded Software Coding Standard and Training Course Designed to Reduce Firmware Bugs

Technical standard incorporates Netrino’s proven best practice strategies to slash bugs and boost portability.

Columbia, MD, October 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Embedded Systems Experts and a leader in embedded systems training and engineering services, today announced publication of the “Netrino Embedded C Coding Standard” and a companion “Developing Effective Coding Standards” training course. Built upon Netrino’s extensive experience in designing embedded software, the coding standard incorporates enhancements that have been proven to increase firmware quality by keeping bugs out—while also improving maintainability and portability.

“Embedded firmware development is easier when it is completed with discipline and consistency,” said Netrino president Michael Barr. “The Netrino Embedded C Coding Standard is one layer of our Zero Bugs…Period design methodology which consists of multiple layers of software engineering best practices to improve code quality.”

Netrino’s Embedded C Coding Standard is available in book form and details a set of guiding principles as well as providing specific rules for modules, data types, functions, macros, and variables. Rules that have been demonstrated to reduce or eliminate certain types of bugs are highlighted.

Additionally, a companion “Developing Effective Coding Standards” training course has been added to Netrino Institute’s offerings and provides engineering managers with the strategies necessary to effectively incorporate coding standards into their organizations. “Netrino Institute’s new Developing Effective Coding Standards course leverages the Netrino Embedded C Coding Standard to train software engineers and engineering managers in best practices for embedded firmware development,” added Netrino chief technology officer Mike Ficco.

Information on the Netrino Embedded C Coding Standard is available at Netrino’s website (www.netrino.com/Coding-Standard). Netrino Institute’s Fall 2008 course schedule and registration information – including updated versions of popular courses – are also available at www.netrino.com.
