Black Friday Specials at the Independence Visitor Center

Black Friday sales and specials aren’t exclusive to malls this year. Independence Visitor Center will also be a part of the action. Friday, November 28, 2008 take a break from your holiday shopping and make a stop at the Independence Visitor Center or skip the shopping altogether and Start at the Center. All day, when you rent one Historic Philadelphia GPS guided walking tour receive the second rental for half off and there will be discounts for Saturday’s Breakfast with Ben offered.

Philadelphia, PA, November 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The GPS Ranger™ is a self-paced multimedia tour guide device that leads you on an informative and entertaining walking tour of Independence National Historical Park. Learn about the history, stories and significance behind some of the nation’s most treasured landmarks with the GPS Ranger and Ben Franklin as your guide. Throughout the tour, the GPS Ranger delivers captivating videos, historical imagery, fun facts and interactive trivia for over 25 different points of interest, automatically as you approach them. The MapTracker feature helps to locate facilities and tour stops. Tours are available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. To meet the needs of hearing impaired visitors it is also interpreted in American Sign Language and offered in Captioning.

Breakfast with Ben on Saturday mornings has become a staple at the Independence Visitor Center. Guests are invited to enjoy an interactive breakfast and discussion with one of our nation’s most influential founding fathers. Adults and children alike are able to chat with Ben, ask questions about his life and work and even pose for pictures. Each guest will receive a goodie bag of souvenirs to mark this truly historic event. Breakfast runs from 9a.m.-10:30a.m. and is hosted in the Independence Ballroom in Independence Visitor Center. Advance reservations and payment are required and will be accepted until 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

Black Friday madness continues with an appearance by Rinky, the Blue Cross RiverRink mascot, to celebrate RiverRink’s opening day for the 2008 winter season. Rinky will be on hand to distribute discounted passes for ice skating. Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn’s Landing will be celebrating 15 years as a favorite winter tradition in Philadelphia. Opening day festivities will include a PEP Rally for all Philly Sports Fans. Philadelphia visitors and natives are invited to bring out their entire family dressed in their favorite jerseys for this Pep Rally Celebration.
