Extruder IPF Incorporated Introduces FDA Approved 100% Post Consumer Recycled PET Thermo Form Roll Stock

IPF Inc. an extruder of specialty films, has expanded their line of environmentally responsible thermo form sheeting with ECO-THERM and ECO-THERM BD PET. Produced 100% from reclaimed and reprocessed plastic drink bottles, material can also be produced so it is biodegradable and compostable. Both materials are recyclable. High clarity, strong and cost competitive, material can replace PVC, OPS and APET.

Salem, MA, December 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- IPF Inc. is now extruding thermo form roll stock made 100% from post consumer recycled plastic water, juice, soda and sports drink bottles. ECO-THERM sheeting can also be produced so it is biodegradable and compostable when discarded in any environment where there is continuous microbial activity. In landfills, industrial and home compost environments, or natural bodies of water, material will degrade to carbon dioxide and water in nine months to five years.

Recently perfected, this new eco friendly FDA approved material can be used for a wide range of food and non food applications. High clarity, strength, performance, lack of storage and handling limitations and cost make it practical for the thermo forming of trays, clamshells, containers and blisters.

Environmental benefits include reduction of carbon footprint, improvement in packaging scorecards and decreased demand for natural resources. Where currently 8 out of 10 plastic drink bottles end up in landfills and the average person discards 166 drink bottles per year, this new alternative is a timely and practical alternative.

Cost competitive with PVC, OPS, RPET and APET, ECO-THERM is a practical alternative when compared with traditional materials as well as other eco-friendly options.

"Closed Loop" programs are also available. Companies or institutions can now return collected drink bottles for remanufacturing into new material or thermoformed packaging they normally purchase.
