Distributor Wire & Cable Company Stocks DLO Cable

Aurora, CO, December 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Distributor Wire and Cable Company is now stocking DLO Cable at its Denver location. Also known as diesel locomotive cable, DLO is a flexible copper cable that is used in power and motor leads. This electrical cable is most commonly found in various types of mining including coal, diamond, copper and gold. Although it is not strictly limited to the mining industry DLO Cable also has applications for oil drilling rigs, telecom power supply and mass transit systems.

“We are excited to expand our inventory to this product line. Since many of the applications for DLO Cable are in the Rocky Mountain Region, we feel that DWC can be a powerful resource for the local oil and mining industries,” commented Bryce Huett, the president of Distributor Wire & Cable.

Stocking sizes for DLO Cable range from 10 AWG to 1111 MCM. The jacket is a thermoset construction that is CSPE or CPE. This rubber like exterior is resistant to acids, oils and heat. It also has an abrasion and impact resistance which is a requirement for many of its applications. DLO also has conductors with a tin coated copper which provides additional protection from corrosion. These factors along with a high strand count make DLO cable a highly flexible and popular product.

“Some customers will ask for welding cable or mining cords when what they really need is a DLO cable. It’s our job to ask probing questions so that we can understand their application and provide the product that best suits their needs. Since DLO is so flexible and durable it can really save a customer time and money. Otherwise they may be constantly replacing a cable with a less reliable alternative,” said sales associate Robert McCord.
