Duct Taped Door Allows Entry, Sonitrol Pacific Audio Still Detects

Everett, WA, December 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Police arrested two juveniles suspected of placing Duct Tape over the Everett Boys & Girls Club gym door locks in an unsuccessful attempt to evade Sonitrol Pacific’s security system and get inside undetected December 3.

Just before 10:00 p.m., experienced Sonitrol Pacific Operator Denise Smith received an alarm activation from the club. Although she didn’t hear obviously threatening sounds, aware of other recent break-ins in the area, Smith called Everett Police.

Officers arrived at the club just as two suspects ran from the building. Police and a K9 unit gave chase and arrested the juveniles.

According to police, at some point earlier in the day, Duct Tape was placed over the gym door latch so it would close, but not lock. The two suspects easily entered the building, but once inside, Sonitrol Pacific’s audio sensors gave them away.

Christmas House’s December gift collection is underway and the club’s gym is stocked with donations. Many in the Everett area look to Christmas House to provide their children with something special for Christmas. Sonitrol Pacific is thrilled to have played a role in protecting those gifts from falling into the wrong hands before finding a home with a deserving child.
