VCSonline Announces Microsoft Project Integration with Their VPMi Professional SaaS Resource and Project Management Software

VCSonline announced the immediate availability of a .Net web-service that allows Microsoft Project 2003/2007 users to synchronize with the VPMi Professional SaaS project management software. The new capability further positions the VPMi Professional as a faster to setup, lower cost, and easier to use alternative to the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) server and similar competitive offerings.

St. Louis, MO, December 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- VCSonline announced immediate availability of a .Net web-service that provides full 2-way integration between Microsoft Project 2003/2007 schedules and the VPMi Professional software-as-a-service (SaaS). Microsoft Project schedules can be built and maintained off-line and once uploaded, VPMi Professional subscribers have access to a project team portal (with the full suite of Project Management Institute compliant tools), web-based timesheets, financials, earned value, and resource management reports. CIOs and project centric organizations trying to manage higher customer expectations, faster cycle times, and lower budgets can now collaborate online or off-line (with Microsoft Project), at a fraction of the setup time, training, and overall expense of competitive offerings.

"Over the past 10 years the VPMi Professional SaaS model has saved our customers millions of dollars in hardware, support, and project administration costs - yet we were not satisfied," said VCSonline co-founder Nick Matteucci. "The more we studied the administrative costs associated with managing projects, the more we realized the need for a familiar, off-line, and ubiquitous project scheduling capability to compliment our web-based PPM service. Obviously, with nearly 90% of the desktop scheduling market, that meant Microsoft Project integration.

"The benchmark for Microsoft Project integration was Microsoft's own Enterprise Project Management server," states VCSonline co-founder Jeff Pupillo, "but we felt it was too expensive and convoluted for most organizations to adopt." "We set out to eliminate these shortcomings and judging by the feedback from early adopters, we have exceeded our goals and their expectations. Best of all, we are now saving customers even more money on their resource, portfolio and project management costs."

"It can take less time to reach return on investment (ROI) with SaaS PPM because the overhead cost typically is much lower than other PPM deployment options," said Daniel Stang, principal research analyst, Gartner. "A lower ROI target is undoubtedly a more achievable ROI target. Additionally, effective SaaS PPM systems fit nicely into a good risk mitigation strategy."
