Tampa, FL, December 21, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- Roadmaster Drivers School Inc. answered the call to deliver 50 pallets of drinking water from St. Petersburg to Hudson, Florida for the Red Cross this past week. The water had been pre-purchased for use by the by the Tampa Bay Chapter of the Red Cross in preparation for disasters such as hurricanes.
The water needed to be moved when a storage crisis developed for the Red Cross. Donated space where the water was being housed suddenly became unavailable in St. Petersburg and the water needed to be removed almost immediately. Upon finding a new storage area located just north of State Road 52 on Rt. 19 in Hudson, the question of transportation quickly became the central issue. Pam Bartley, Manager of Readiness and Response for Pinellas County was in charge of finding a way to Hudson.
“We were notified that time had expired on storage and we needed help within a matter of days. I spoke with Ken Whittington [Vice President of Operations for Career Path Training Corp., parent company of Roadmaster Drivers School], and he graciously offered a quick response to our call and got us the truck driving services we needed to get the job done!” said Bartley. “This is a great example of the American peoples’ willingness to help and support the Red Cross – it all comes down to them. Without their help we couldn’t be there for the people who need us.”“We’re happy to help a great organization like the Red Cross,” said Whittington, “We had the resources and the man-power. We’re just glad we were here when they needed us.” In 2005, Roadmaster also trucked over 340,000 bottles of water to the New Orleans area after Hurricane Katrina.
