Chicago, IL, December 24, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Students Complete TEFL Seminar Course with TEFL Institute.

Six students completed a full weekend of TEFL training on how to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) while living abroad. The class was held on-site at TEFL Institute Chicago. The TEFL Seminar course provided a weekend of training on class lesson planning, classroom management, learning styles, and understanding cultural differences. Upon completion of the class, students received an internationally recognized TEFL Certificate from TEFL Institute. This certificate will provide them the opportunity to pursue teaching English all over the world.

The class was highly interactive with videotaped sessions and peer-to-peer feedback. Rick Forrest, a 75 year old Chicago resident, and graduate of Northeastern Illinois University and DePaul University, summed up the class as, “a very valuable experience. After 30 years in a CPS [Chicago Public School] classroom, I in no way would have been prepared to teach English abroad.” Mr. Forrest went on to say, “This was a well spent weekend.” Mr. Forrest plans to teach English in South America, he has already spent time teaching English in Tokyo, Japan several years ago.

Students spent a large percentage of their time learning to construct effective lesson plans by focusing on the four cornerstones of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) acquisition which include reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Another student in the class, 30 year old Marc Vendrame from Detroit, Michigan, who is a graduate of Michigan State University, said, “I learned a lot about the various language learning methods, learning styles, and the needs of the student… I now feel comfortable about teaching English abroad.” Mr. Vendrame plans are to teach English in Korea or China.

Upon completion of the course students received an internationally recognized TEFL Certificate, Job Placement assistance and pre-departure support. Each student was assigned a TEFL Support Manager whom provided resources in the development of an international resume and cover letter, as well as interviewing guidance for English teaching jobs abroad. Carol Rowe, a student from South Africa in the class went on to say she, “learned an enormous amount that she did not know (enough) about before the seminar.” Ms. Rowe said, “I would highly recommend this seminar to others.” Ms. Rowe plans to teach English in South America.
