Gilchrist Adds Sparkle to Asda Packs

Bradford, United Kingdom, January 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Gilchrist, the branding and design implementation firm, has used a new technique to retouch the photography used on the packs for Asda's Christmas trifle range.

The company went against tradition and added montage stars and sparkles into the final composition, rather than during the initial photography stage.

Gilchrist (part of Sun Branding Solutions) said that adding the sparkle during photography tended to interfere with the set up, however, developments in retouching techniques mean that there is now a more accurate, controlled way of achieving special effects.

The stars and sparkles were included in the photography as separate layers, this meant they could be moved or re-positioned, creating the illusion of space and distance.

Asda's Simon Hoare said: "We were delighted with this year's stunning photography.

"Adding the sparkles in at a later stage really added a wow factor and using a retouching technique rather than incorporating the props from the start has meant the whole process has been much smoother – in fact, the imagery was approved with no amendments first time around, which is something of a miracle," he added.
