Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Foundation Announces 2009 Honorees

Lawrenceville, NJ, January 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Carrying forward a seventy year tradition of recognizing exceptional physicians and leaders in healthcare, the Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Foundation today announced the 2009 honorees for the Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Awards®.

The Excellence in Medicine Awards are named after Edward J. Ill, MD, a New Jersey physician who was a pioneer in promoting continuing education in ways that set the national standard.

Paul J. Hirsch, MD, Chairman of the Edward J. -Outstanding Medical Research Scientist Award for Basic Biomedical Research: Aaron J. Shatkin, PhD
-Outstanding Medical Executive Award: Gary S. Carter, FACHE
-Verice M. Mason Community Service Leader Award: John W. Beckley, MPH, on behalf of Hunterdon County Partnership for Health
-Special Award: Jill A. Lipoti, PhD, for protecting the people of New Jersey from unnecessary exposure to radiation from natural and man-made sources
