Sister stores Fashion Pointe and Kids Pointe are hosting a free Child Identification Event from 11am to 11pm on Saturday, January 31st. This service is one of many events going on in January at “The Pointe” 3507 Maclay Blvd. Kids Pointe is the largest independently owned and operated children’s store in Tallahassee.

Last year “Fashion Pointe” opened its doors offering ladies clothing sizes 0-26 and maternity sizes. Like Kids Pointe, Fashion Pointe buys ladies name brand clothes and accessories for cash, on the spot.

The free family activities will take place at the store on both Saturday January 24th and Saturday January 31st. Kids Pointe will offer free Pony Rides on Saturday, January 24th from 12 to 2pm. The family safety events sponsored by the Tallahassee Police Department are scheduled for Saturday, January 31 between 11AM-1PM. Princess characters will be at the stores on both Saturdays.

“According to the U.S. Department of Justice, over one million children are reported missing in our country each year. No one likes to think that it could happen to them—if it ever does, having the appropriate identification information is critical. We are pleased to play a role in helping parents safeguard their children,” said Barbara Hill of Fashion Pointe.

The free Child Identification Kits to be distributed on Saturday provide parents with a convenient record of each child’s vital statistics. This ID booklet contains space for a child’s photograph, fingerprints, and other information such as age, height, eye color and medical profile. Local law enforcement will be on hand to take pictures and fingerprint children.

Barbara Hill relayed, “We all know how rapidly children grow in their younger years. If you have an older ID kit at home, it may be time to get an updated one.” Law enforcement agencies suggest ID kits be updated annually so that photos and information is current.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Big Bend (BBBS) is the largest mentoring national youth serving organization based on a one-to-one relationship between an adult volunteer and a child whose circumstances demonstrate the need for additional adult support. Volunteers serve as role models to help youth increase their self-confidence, reach their highest potential and lead them towards happy and successful futures. Big Brothers Big Sisters will be on site to give more information on how to get involved with the agency. 100% proceeds from the hotdogs sales will benefit BBBS.
