Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue Team Assists in Search for Missing Immokalee Boy

Tampa, FL, January 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue Team (FL-3) joins search for missing six-year old Adji Desir in Immokalee, Florida.

Fifteen members of the Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue Team, accompanied by members of the Tampa Bay Search and Rescue Team, assisted the Collier County Sheriff’s Department in a 7-day search for six-year old Adji Desir.

The two teams equipped with airboats, all-terrain vehicles, a 6-wheel amphibious unit, side-scan sonar, underwater video cameras, two-way radio communications, satellite mapping and search dogs expended over 750 man-hours in the search.

During the weeklong search, FL-3, under the leadership of Captain Kevin Roderiques, and the Tampa Bay Search and Rescue Team searched lakes, canals, marshes, woodlands, farmlands and pastures for any trace of Adji Desir.

Utilizing an amphibious unit, side-scan sonar and underwater cameras, FL-3’s marine unit searched 1,500 acre Lake Trafford for the missing boy, while the Tampa Bay Search and Rescue team, other members of the FL-3 Team assisted the Collier County Sheriff’s Department deputies in a ground-search on foot, and utilizing all-terrain vehicles.

Throughout the search, Search and Rescue Support Group, Inc., of Wimauma, Florida provided logistical support to the two teams.

After an exhausting seven days, with no stone left unturned and many areas having been searched, re-searched and re-searched again, by both humans and scent dogs, the Collier County Sheriff’s Department suspended the ground search on Saturday, January 17th pending further developments.
