Washington, DC, January 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Full- and part-time students in Graphic & Web Design, 3D Animation and Photography graduated from the Washington, DC campus of the Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University (CDIA) on Sunday, January 11. The students were honored with certificates and exhibition of their best work.

CDIA’s gallery space held viewings of student work from the Graphic & Web Design, Photography and 3D Animation programs before the commencement ceremony. CDIA Washington, DC Practicum Manager Kate McNamee also hosted presentations by practicum students from all three programs.

At 3:30pm, the commencement ceremony began with welcoming remarks from CDIA Executive Director Bob Daniels, who spoke about the history and evolution of technology through the centuries and the current challenges and benefits of such rapid development.

The commencement address followed Daniels’ remarks. Keynote speaker Chris Alvanas, Photography Program Director, is also a sought-after postproduction artist in the high-end beauty retouching industry. Alvanas spoke about artists’ passion for their craft, and how that passion provides fuel for the professional and personal journeys upon which the graduates are about to embark. He also reminded graduates of the importance of establishing goals and building upon the education and foundation provided at CDIA.

Following Alvanas’ speech, certificates were presented to the graduating students in each program. Campus Director Jim Cameron delivered brief closing remarks to end the ceremony.
