War Room Logistics, LLC Poll Shows Floridians Supportive of $1 per pack increase on cigarettes, drilling off Florida’s shores, oppose Federal “Employee Free Choice Act,” and overwhelmingly predict bad financial times lie ahead for Florida.

Gainesville, FL, February 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In a poll conducted January 28 among registered voters, 69.9% of people polled Strongly Agree (52.9%) or Somewhat Agree(17.1%) with the statement “The Florida Legislature should increase taxes on cigarettes by one dollar over Florida’s current .34 cents per pack tax.” This compares with 26.2% who Strongly Disagree (14.1%) or Somewhat Disagree (12.1%) with the statement.

In the same poll, 63.0% of registered voters Strongly Agree (45.2%) or Somewhat Agree (17.9%) with the statement, “Congress should lift the current moratorium on offshore drilling and exploration for gas and oil.” This compares with 30.6% who Strongly Disagree (17.9%%) or Somewhat Disagree (12.7%%) with the statement.

Floridians are overwhelmingly opposed to the federal “Employee Free Choice Act” or “Card Check Bill”. The federal plan is opposed by 58.0% of voters while supported by only 21.1%. The exact question asked follows: “There is a proposal in Congress called the “Employee Free Choice Act” or “Card Check Bill”. This act would replace a federally supervised secret ballot with a process that requires a majority of workers to sign a card to authorize organizing a union, and the workers’ signatures would be made public to their employer, the union organizers and their co-workers. Do you support or oppose this proposal?”

Floridians are very pessimistic over the economic future of Florida, with 71.3% answering bad financial times to the following question: “Turning to economic conditions in Florida, do you think that during the next 12 months we will have good times financially or bad times?” Only 14.9% predict good financial times ahead for Florida.

Methodology

712 registered voters in the State of Florida were interviewed in a random sample taken January 28, 2009. Voters were screened for voter registration. All interviews were conducted by telephone surveys utilizing IVR technology. The margin of error for this survey is +-4.0% with a 95% confidence level.
