Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue Assists in Search for Marcia Hulihan

Sebastian, FL, February 04, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Saturday, January 31st, the Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue team joined forces with Tampa Bay Search and Rescue and Intercoastal Search and Recovery to assist the City of Sebastian Police Department in the search for 50-year-old Marcia Hulihan.

Working as a cohesive multi-organization team, Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue, Tampa Bay Search and Rescue and Intercoastal Search and Recovery canvassed a wooded area and waterways near the home Marcia Hulihan, missing since September, 2008.

Twenty-three members of the three teams, equipped with boats, underwater infrared cameras, four-wheel drive ATVs and accompanied by search dogs, located the skeletal remains of an adult female along a canal bank, within six hours from the start of the search. Law enforcement investigators believe the remains to be those of Marcia Hulihan, but are awaiting the results of DNA testing before making a positive identification.

Florida-3 Airboat Search and Rescue, based in Tampa, Florida provided marine support and assisted the Tampa Bay Search and Rescue team with ground-search personnel. Intercoastal Search and Recovery, of Deland, Florida provided five dog teams that participated in the search. Logistical support for the search was provided by Search and Rescue Support Group, Inc., of Wimauma, Florida.

All of the teams involved in the search are volunteer and funded strictly by donations.

The search for Marcia Hulihan was the second time in two weeks the three teams worked together. It was only two weeks ago that the three teams combined resources to assist the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in the search for 6-year-old Adji Desir, in Immokalee, Florida.
