Geosemble Signs New Board of Advisors Member

A successful innovator and technology start-up veteran joins the “data inside” company for maps and satellite imagery.

El Segundo, CA, February 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Geosemble Technologies Inc., announced today that it has appointed Oren Etzioni as a new member of its Board of Advisors. Dr. Etzioni is a distinguished executive and consultant with vast experience in new technology development and commercialization in the software industry. His experience comprises Technology Development, Market Development and Strategic Alliances and he’s been a founder and co-founder of multiple successful startups over the past 15 years.

Most recently, Dr. Etzioni founded Farecast, a company that utilizes data mining techniques to anticipate airfare fluctuations. Farcast was acquired by Microsoft in 2008. Dr. Etzioni was a co-founder of Clearforest, a text-mining startup that was acquired by Reuters in 2007, he was the Chief Technology Officer and a board member of Go2net, acquired by Infospace in 2000, and as a co-founder of Netbot, which was acquired by Excite in 1997. At Netbot, Etzioni helped to conceive and design the web's first major comparison-shopping agent. In 1995, Etzioni and his student Erik Selberg developed MetaCrawler, the web's premier Meta-search engine for several years – now being run by Infospace. Dr. Etzioni has served on the board of Performant (acquired by Mercury Interactive in 2003) and as a consultant or advisor to Google, Microsoft, Northern Telecom, SAIC, Infospace, Excite, Askjeeves, Zillow and Vivisimo, among others.
