1916 to Perform at The 14th Annual Bakersfield Gathering and Games 2009

Bakersfield, CA, February 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- There has never, in the history of music in Bakersfield, been such a band with this passionate Celtic/Rock sound. Come to the highland games and listen for yourselves. The band 1916 is your band from your town. Supported by the Kern County Scottish Society, 1916 will perform at this year's Scottish Gathering and Games at Bakersfield College, on Saturday, April 4th. Festivities begin at 9 am. This will be a great day for families and those wanting to listen to entertaining bands including local Pipe Bands. Listen to the solo piping and drumming competition. Visit the Genealogy tent to trace your ancestry. Stop by Vendor’s Row to purchase a kilt and other items of Highland interest.

While the Games may end at 5 pm, the party with 1916 and the Wicked Tinkers goes on into the night at the best Ceilidh (kay-lee) on the West Coast. The Bakersfield Scottish Games are a favorite venue for the Wicked Tinkers. Hundreds of energized fans stay well into the night to move their bodies to the heart-pounding, irresistible Tribal Celtic music of the Wicked Tinkers. As Chuck Thurman of the Coast Weekly wrote, the Wicked Tinkers play Music that truly isn’t about being pretty, it’s about being forceful and filled with rhythms of life.

If you've got some Celtic blood in you, or just enjoy listening to great music, don't miss 1916 and the Wicked Tinkers at the Scottish Gathering and Games at Bakersfield College on April 4th.
