Hathaway Completes 4 Go Zone Apartment Projects Ahead of December 31st, 2008 Deadline

Atlanta, GA, February 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hathaway Construction Company, Inc. is pleased to announce the completion of four GO Zone apartment projects on the Gulf Coast. All four communities were built as Class A, garden style apartments and consisted of a total of 1,045 units. The four projects are Ansley Walk in Lafayette, LA, Ansley Place in Houma, LA, Stone Ridge at Somerby Park in Mobile, AL and The Vinings at Spanish Fort in Spanish Fort, AL.

In January of 2008, construction began on Ansley Walk in Lafayette, Louisiana. Under the supervision of Project Manager, Brandon Waters and site Superintendent, Danny Moon, Ansley Walk was able to reach demanding deadlines. The project had delays such as Hurricane Humberto, Hurricane Gustav, and rare occasions of sleet and snow during the project with an already compressed schedule. Despite the delays, the 242 unit complex received the final C.O. on December 24, 2008.

Ansley Place began construction in February of 2008 in Houma, Louisiana. Project Manager, Brandon Waters and site superintendent, Patrick Frohling also had the task of building through the abnormal weather conditions and the GO Zone schedule constraints. In fact, Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel was actually stationed in Houma during hurricane Gustov because it was the city at which the hurricane made landfall. The luxury apartment community of 246 units was completed on December 19, 2008.

Hathaway began construction in September of 2007 on the apartment community Stoneridge at Somerby; located in Mobile, Alabama. Project Manager, Tom Cook and site Superintendent, Kevin Foster faced an abnormal amount of rain delays. According to a study conducted by San Francisco-based WeatherBill, Inc., Mobile receives an average of 67 inches of rainfall annually and has an average of 59 rainy days; making it the rainiest city in the United States. Completing all 317 units was difficult, but the work was finished ahead of schedule and in time for the client to be eligible for its full GO Zone tax incentive.

In November of 2007, Hathaway started construction on The Vinings at Spanish Fort in Spanish Fort, Alabama. On his third GO Zone project of the year, Project Manager Brandon Waters built the 240 unit community with resort-style amenities on time and under budget. In 2008, Hathaway dealt with more than 10 occasions of rain each totaling two inches or more; which caused major delays in construction of the site infrastructure. With the help of site Superintendent, John Ennis, Waters was able to complete the construction of the project on December 15, 2008.

Hathaway would like to take the opportunity to thank all the people involved in the building of these communities. Without your will and determination our success would not be possible.
