DeWitt Public Schools Launches Friendly, Flexible & Cost-Effective Website - Foxbright’s Express Design Delivers “Value Far in Excess of Cost”

DeWitt, MI, February 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Just north of Lansing, Michigan, DeWitt Public Schools serves nearly 3,000 students, in six different school buildings. This fact played havoc on the district’s image on the web. “We have a community of very involved parents, and they are always asking for information,” says Pat Howard, Community Relations Director. “In the past, we were a collection of building-level sites. Each one had a different look. Each also had its own navigation path, making it difficult for parents to get the information they needed, quickly and accurately.”

The communication difficulties posed by the old web presence were not limited to home-school communication. “From an internal perspective, we had six different buildings, each maintaining its own calendar, and that alone caused confusion,” says Howard.

Although DeWitt recognized its need for a dynamic, unified and visually appealing website, it also faced tough fiscal realities. Working with Foxbright, a Grand Rapids-based company specializing in communication management for schools, DeWitt Public Schools (http://dewittschools.net) developed the web presence they needed at a reasonable cost. They selected Foxbright’s Express Design, a content management system that enables a wide range of people to update pages on the website, combined with intuitive, highly customizable layout and navigation schemes. The district anticipates qualifying for Federal funds to support the project.

“The Foxbright team was excellent to work with, from the first meeting to support after the launch,” says Howard. “We were on a fast track to get the website redeveloped, and they were very responsive. The Express Design option was key to getting the site done as quickly as we did, and it looks wonderful. They delivered value far in excess of cost in my view,” says Howard.

DeWitt now has a consistent, streamlined look across the district and into the buildings. “Community feedback has been very positive. There is good logic to the site, now. People are able to find information they care about quickly and in one place. The centralized calendar alone has been a tremendous benefit in terms of saving staff time,” says Howard.

“DeWitt has demonstrated the power of the Express Design production path,” says Rob Huisingh, Foxbright Partner. “We saved the district thousands of dollars in upfront costs and still launched a highly professional website, which is very exciting.”
