Butler Street YMCA has been known for community and business leadership throughout the years, and the direction of Legacy of Firsts is yet another bold step in that direction,” according to Xernona Clayton, Founder, of the Trumpet Awards.

Atlanta, GA, February 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Aligned with the mission of the Butler St. YMCA, nine “firsts” or “innovators” along with four historic awards were celebrated during the Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner which was re-branded Legacy of Firsts: Bridging Generations of Leadership.

The Butler Street YMCA celebrated its 114-year-old heritage of leadership with Atlanta’s “leading men and women” on Saturday, January 31, 2009. “It was a pleasure to be part of this historic event for the Y and the community at large. Butler Street YMCA has been known for community and business leadership throughout the years, and the direction of Legacy of Firsts is yet another bold step in that direction,” according to Xernona Clayton, Founder, of the Trumpet Awards. Ms. Clayton and TV Personality, Fred Blankenship served as emcees.

“Celebrating the rich history of leadership by Butler Street YMCA members which included Martin Luther King, Vernon Jordan and others while honoring a new crop of legends and innovators is part of the objective of Legacy of Firsts; but the more sustaining objective is to increase inter-generational communication among these powerhouses,” according to Legacy Co-Chairperson, Aqualyn Laury, Chief Brand Strategist of AQUA-LYNK Marketing Agency. She along with Legacy Co-Chairperson Dr. Jacqueline Pollard, Principal of The Pollard Group and new leader of the Morris Brown financial recovery directive are currently in the planning phase for the second class of legends and innovators to be honored on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
