As State Economy Suffers, California Non-Profit Gets Creative - House Raffle Provides Critical Funding

Palm Springs, CA, February 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- California’s economy is at it’s worst, and while most California businesses are feeling the pressure, at least one California non-profit is making their own way instead.

DesertArc is a non-profit organization that supports developmentally disabled people in the Coachella valley area. DesertArc provides job training skills to help challenged citizens find meaningful, rewarding employment and provides services to assist in independent living. Over 700 people in the Coachella valley area are directly benefitting from DesertArc services.

This year, DesertArc is raising funds to support these activities by hosting a raffle. The raffle includes over a hundred prizes, including a grand prize of a new $1.2 million doller home in Griffin ranch or a million dollars cash.

Richard Balacco is the Executive Director of DesertArc and oversees the raffle program. “We are excited to host this raffle. It’s a great way to support our services and offer something back to those who help DesertArc.” More than $50,000 in prizes have already been awarded, and more than $150,000 in prizes will be awarded throughout the raffle in addition to the Grand Prize. Prizes to date include $10,000 cash to three winners, Laguna Nigel resident Darrell Cavanaugh, La Quinta resident Etti Zuckerman and Indio resident David Johnson, who has the choice of taking the cash or a 2009 Smart Car.

The biggest prizes are yet to come, with drawings scheduled for February 26th and the grand prize drawing for a $1.2 million home in Griffin Ranch or $1 million cash on April 18th.
