Dr. Charles Hamner Named a Panelist for "RTP at 50: What’s Next?"

Research Triangle Park, NC, February 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences has announced that Dr. Charles Hamner, chair of the board of directors, will be a featured panelist for the discussion “RTP at 50: What’s Next?” on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park. The four-person panel will offer insights about RTP as an economic engine and discuss the opportunities likely to emerge in the next few years.

Dr. Hamner was selected to participate on the panel for the many contributions he has made to the biotechnology industry throughout the Southeast. Dr. Hamner led the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, the nation’s first state-sponsored biotech initiative, for 14 years. The state of North Carolina spent millions promoting Dr. Hamner’s biotechnology business plan, but has reaped billions from the effort. His accomplishments played a pivotal role in transforming North Carolina into a booming biotech state and have contributed to its rank among the nation’s top five biotechnology states.

The Triangle Business Journal event, “RTP at 50: What’s Next?” panel will convene at the Radisson Hotel Research Triangle Park, located at 150 Park Drive, RTP 27709. Charles E. Hamner, D.V.M., Ph.D. is chair of the board of directors at The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences, located in Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina.
