Interview with Coach Hueina Su, Author of Intensive Care for the Nurturer’s Soul: 7 Keys to Nurture Yourself While Caring for Others
The Nurturer’s Coach Hueina Su, professional coach, speaker and author is featured in Neighbor News. Su discusses her upcoming new book “Intensive Care for the Nurturer’s Soul: 7 Keys to Nurture Yourself While Caring for Others” and how she can help nurturers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs achieve business success and life balance.
In this exclusive interview, Su discusses how she first felt the need for self-care when she grew up in a doctor’s family. As an oncology nurse, she experienced stress and burnout due to job demand and emotional attachment. This was when she started to learn stress management techniques and practice detached involvement to help her stay in work-life balance.
“Mothers are the ultimate nurturers who always take care of family and everyone else and oftentimes forget to take care of themselves,” Su says. “That reminds me of my personal experience when we moved to Texas with 3-year-old daughter and infant son. One time they both came down with bronchitis. I took good care of them. But I didn’t know the fact later that I was also sick for the whole month.”
“This is the lesson learned that intensive self-care is not being selfish and it’s not a luxury, but rather an essential practice for your survival and overall well-being,” Su says. “You have to put on your oxygen mask before caring for your family and business.”
The life lessons based on Su’s upcoming book Intensive Care for the Nurturer’s Soul: 7 Keys to Nurture Yourself While Caring for Others are:
Stop, Drop & Roll Out of Overwhelm
De-clutter for Inner Peace
Fast Track to Calm
Opt-In for Joy
In the Moment Serenity
Practice Detached Involvement
Dare to Connect

Su says in the current economic downturn and financial crisis, small business owners and entrepreneurs are prone to stress and burnout while trying to stay afloat. Small business owners and entrepreneurs can also be defined as nurturers as they strive to build their business while nurturing relationship with their suppliers, vendors, customers and clients.
It is imperative that small business owners and entrepreneurs create a work-life balance and practice self-care of their health. Otherwise, they may break down from chronic stress and burnout. “There are so many cases where successful business owners or entrepreneurs commit suicide due to stress and burnout. That is sad but totally preventable,” Su says.
Su says creating a joyful, abundant and fulfilled life is not a pipe dream. With clarity, commitment, action, perseverance and help from a great coach, it is totally possible. A great coach can help business owners and entrepreneurs fast-track their business while nurturing themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.
