Parenthood.com and PaperG Launch Digital Bulletin Board

Parenthood.com has partnered with PaperG, a local online advertising company, to launch digital bulletin boards on the websites of its eight regional parenting titles using PaperG's Flyerboard ad technology.

New Haven, CT, March 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Parenthood.com, a leading online destination for parents, expectant mothers, and families, and PaperG, a local online advertising company, have announced a partnership that allows businesses to easily and affordably promote their services and events to more than 550,000 families each month. Parenthood.com will use PaperG’s Flyerboard ad technology to launch digital bulletin boards on the websites of its eight regional parenting titles, including sites in San Francisco, Boston, and Denver.

Expanding on the concept of a community bulletin board, the Flyerboard is a virtual bulletin board on which businesses can post flyers to advertise their services and events. Advertisers provide a poster-sized image and the Flyerboard automatically converts it into an attractive, interactive flyer ad with built-in features such as email sharing, social networking, and online maps.

Unlike current online advertising options, Flyerboard is local, making it especially appropriate for Parenthood.com’s eight regional parenting titles — L.A. Parent, Colorado Parent, The Boston Parents' Paper, Westchester Family, Our Kids San Antonio, and the three editions of Bay Area Parent. “Right now, it’s difficult for online publishers to attract local businesses because of the cost and complexities associated with online advertising,” explains Roger Lee, co-founder of PaperG, the company that developed Flyerboard. “Flyerboard makes it easy, affordable, and effective for these businesses to advertise online.”

Parenthood.com, a division of Dominion Enterprises and the nation's largest publisher of free-to-the-public regional parenting magazines, plans to use the Flyerboard to more effectively capture local advertising revenue. Tom Gonzales, General Manager of Parenthood.com, remarks, “We think that the Flyerboard will be both a useful tool for businesses to advertise their events and services and a great way for parents and families to discover interesting opportunities in their communities.”

The Flyerboard is currently live on over 50 local websites, where it has proven to be an effective advertising tool for local businesses, outperforming the click-through rates of banner ads and Google ads at a fraction of the cost. PaperG, whose other partners include Boston.com and Not For Tourists, won the Harvard Innovation Competition last year for its innovation in local online advertising.
