The Swinden Group Advises Clients and Travelers in Queensland Australia of Approaching Tropical Cyclone Hamish

Torrential rains are expected along Queensland’s North Tropical Coast.

Evergreen, CO, March 07, 2009 --( The Swinden Group, through their Severe Weather Advisories, is advising interests and travelers to the Tropical Coast of Queensland to be prepared for affects of Tropical Cyclone Hamish as it travels down the coastline.

Tropical Cyclone Hamish, with sustained winds of 35 knots, is located north-northeast of Cairns, Australia and will strengthen while tracking to the south off the coast. Damaging wind gusts are not expected to affect coastal or island communities within 24 hours, however they may develop within 24 to 48 hours. Preliminary forecast has Hamish strengthening to Hurricane strength by Saturday.

“The immediate threat from Hamish will be the possibility of flooding rains along the Queensland coast,” explains Matthew Swinden, President of the Swinden Group. “If the storm continues to track southward, it may make landfall north of Mackay, Queensland. As of this morning, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Cyclone Watch for coastal and island communities from Cape Melville to Bowen. Interest in this region should be prepared for widespread flooding and travel delays. Damage to the infrastructure due to flooding can also be a threat.”
