Dallas’ West End is kicking off its 2009 Block Party Series with the 2nd Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party in the West End. The Free block party will feature Irish folk band “Beyond the Pale,” Undercover Blues Band, Irish dance groups, a bagpipe performances, a pet parade and pet lookalike contest benefiting SPCA of Texas, and great Irish foods prepared by the award winning restaurants of the West End. Attendance is expected to top 5000, up from the first year of 3000 attendee’s.

Dallas’ West End is kicking off its 2009 Block Party Series with the 2nd Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party in the West End. The Free block party will feature Irish folk band “Beyond the Pale,” Undercover Blues Band, Irish dance groups, a bagpipe performances, a pet parade and pet lookalike contest benefiting SPCA of Texas, and great Irish foods prepared by the award winning restaurants of the West End. Attendance is expected to top 5000, up from the first year of 3000 attendee’s. The block party will also benefit West End Charities (www.westendcharities.com).

West End’s Market Street will be the site for the West End Association’s 2nd Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Block Party, Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Irish foods, green beer, Celtic music and local bands, Irish dancers and bagpipes, arts and crafts vendors, and a pet parade and costume contest, benefiting the SPCA of Texas, make this an event for everyone. Whether partier’s need a little hair of the dog from Saturday’s Greenville Avenue celebration or a family day out is in order, this free event fits the bill.

The main stage will feature local Celtic folk band, “Beyond the Pale” (www.beyond-the-pale.com) and the judging of the pet parade and costume contest. The second stage will host several Irish dance troops, a bagpipe performance, and other musical performances.

The family fun area will feature bounce houses, games, balloon artists, face painters, and Irish dance lessons. The SPCA of Texas will also have its mobile adoption center at the corner of Market Street and Munger Avenue.

The pet parade and costume contest will step off at the corner of Munger Avenue and Market Street at 4:30 pm, led by Dallas Segway Tours, and march three blocks to the main stage at Market Street and Ross Avenue, where judging for the best pet costume and best pet and pet pal look a-like’s will be judged. Registration fee for the pet parade and costume contests is $5 and all parade proceeds will be donated to the SPCA of Texas.
