Minnesota FCA Names Glenn Martin as New State Director

Minneapolis, MN, March 20, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) in Minnesota announces Glenn Martin as its new state director. Martin began his duties in February and oversees the state’s 16 staff members who serve the metro area and out-state Minnesota.

Martin has been the principal at Spring Lake Park High School for 17 years, retiring in June, 2006. Since then he has been a consultant for Changing Lives, a character education curriculum company headquartered in Litchfield, Minnesota.

Prior to being a high school principal, Martin was a middle school administrator and teacher/coach in Spring Lake Park School District 16. His background includes serving FCA as a volunteer, co-chairing two of FCA fundraising galas.

“This is a great opportunity for me to combine my love of sports, my background with students and schools, and my passion for helping athletes and coaches so they can live out their faith in Jesus Christ on a daily basis,” says Martin.

There are 16 FCA staff members throughout the state of Minnesota serving the athletes and coaches at over 100 middle school, high school and college campuses.

FCA Midwest Regional Director, Jeff Juni says, "Glenn's heart to serve and leadership experience are exactly what we need to take this ministry to the next level."

The National President and CEO of FCA is Les Steckel, former Minnesota Vikings head coach. Founded in 1954, FCA has been impacting the lives of athletes and coaches on the youth, middle level, high school, college and professional levels for 55 years. Now reaching more than 2 million people annually, FCA has grown to be the largest sports ministry in the world. Its “Huddles” meet regularly on over 6,600 middle school, high school and college campuses for Bible study, prayer and other faith-based activities, including service to their schools and communities. Other FCA ministry elements include over 250 summer camps with 46,000 attendees, coaches ministry, sport-specific ministries and the nationally-recognized anti-drug program, One Way 2 Play – Drug Free.
