Hallee Hirsh (ER's Rachel Greene) Having a Moment

Not seen on ER since Season 10, Hallee Hirsh (21) was both surprised and ecstatic when called by the Producers of ER a week before filming started on the legendary show's eagerly anticipated series Finale which aired to a record 16.4 million viewers on April 2nd. She was invited back to reprise her role as Rachel, the daughter of beloved deceased character, Mark Greene.

Los Angeles, CA, April 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Not only was Hallee Hirsh excited about the opportunity to be part of television and ER history by performing in the series final episode, she was soon to learn she would have a pivotol role to play - that of an iconic character who would help create a truly satisfying closure by providing the opportunity to bring the series full circle.

The episode, titled, "And in the end" just as easily could have been called "And as it was in the beginning," an apt metaphor for the circular nature of life and the lesson that things go on and on and new generations replace old. ER's fan base, much which has loyally stayed with the show its entire 15 seasons, caught every deliberate nuance written into the script just for them by one of the show's creators and producers, John Wells. The blogs continue to buzz with fan discussions and enumerations of how the last episode was a mirror of the very first episode.

Once playing a character reviled by much of the loyal fan base (Rachel Greene struggled through her teen years in Season 8, giving her much adored father more than his fair share of parental angst), Hallee had the pleasure of reprising her role as a completely redeemed character. Now all grown up, beautiful, sophisticated, smart and kind as well, Rachel came back to the ER as a pre-med senior at Duke University who was applying for the prestigious medical school program at Chicago's County Hospital - following in her dad's footsteps.

In purusing the blogs, countless fans have commented on how they felt when Rachel was first revealed with the group of hopefull med school applicants in the ER. Quoting one, "I began crying the moment I saw Rachel, and didn't stop for the rest of the episode."

Although 16.4 million viewers is not a record for ER (Hallee's episode in Season 8 "On the Beach" when Mark Greene succombed to his brain tumor saw more than 30 million viewers), it is a record for series finales.

With such favorable reviews, Hallee is experiencing a transitionary "moment" passing into more adult roles. She boasts a very impressive and lengthly resume going back all the way to1990 when she was three years old. Playing Tom Hanks' eight year old aunt in "You've Got Mail" and a young Rene Zellwegger opposite Meryl Streep in "One True Thing", she went on to steady work through her teen years. Besides a 16 episode arc on "ER", she enjoyed a 17 episode character arc on "JAG" and was a series regular in the popular and award winning Discovery Kids' "Flight 29 Down." Besides countless guest starring roles on TV's hottest shows, she has starred in several TV movies and just recently had her feature film starring role debut, in "16 To Life" which won the Audience Award at the 2009 Method Fest Film Festival. Hallee was also nominated for Best Comedic Performance in a Feature Film at that same festival for her performance.

Hallee Hirsh, born in Omaha, Nebraska, is truly a gifted young actress to watch! Who knows, maybe she will end up playing a doctor on the next hot medical drama. According to much of the ER Fan Base, that would be fine with them.
