San Francisco Mexican Consulate Says "Bravo" to the Palomita Education Fund

SF Mexican Consulate will host a VIP cocktail event on April 16th to help raise funds for the Palomita Education Fund.

San Francisco, CA, April 09, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Palomita Education Fund is pleased to announce that the San Francisco Mexican Consulate will be hosting a private, by invitation only, VIP cocktail party in support of and to help raise funds for the Palomita Education Fund. The April 16th gathering, at the consulate, will be a precursor to the second annual Piensa Mas Alla…Think Beyond… event on the evening of May 29th at Terra SF.

The Consulate cocktail party will host over 100 guests of the Latino as well as the business and political communities in celebration and support of fashion, art and Latino culture. The evening will highlight the Palomita Education Fund’s work and will showcase t-shirt designs of past celebrities up for auction that include Paul Rodriguez, Carlos Mencia, Chuy Gomez, Zoe Zaldana and Erica Ortiz among others. The evening will also provide a “sneak peek” at this year’s celebrity designs that include: Adrienne Bailon, Andy Garcia, Cesar Millan, Christina Milian, Eva Longoria-Parker, Jaslene Gonzalez, LENA, Maria Conchita Alonso, Melonie Diaz, Raquel Welch, Rosario Dawson, Tony Romo, Tony Gonzalez, Walter Perez, and Valerie Cruz. Molly Robbins, Executive Director of the Palomita Education Fund said “This is a great way to kick-off the fundraising for the Palomita Education Fund and the upcoming Piensa Mas Alla… Think Beyond … event, we are so grateful for all of the support!” Carols Felix, The Consul General, shared Robbins’ enthusiasm by sharing “The Palomita Education has done a remarkable job, in a very short time, to create partnerships and reach out to the Bay Area Mexican community, to raise awareness and financial support for the continued education of young Latinos.”

The San Francisco Mexican Consulate was established as a government office of Mexico to serve Mexican citizens that are residing within any of the 13 counties of Northern California: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Marin, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Solano, Sonoma and Trinity. Also included are the states of Alaska, Oregon, Washington and Hawaii. The General Consulate also has the mission to promote the interests of the country, the culture and the image of Mexico, to increase the political relations with all the authorities and to foment the commercial and tourist investments and interchanges to Mexico. The consulates main challenge is to increase its presence within the Mexican community and to offer access to all the assistance programs available through the Mexican government.

The Palomita™ Education Fund was founded in 2007 by Molly Robbins, a successful entrepreneur and Mexico City native. It is a non-profit organization that encourages and supports education, professional and leadership development in the Latino community. The objectives of the organization are: to provide scholarships to Latinos planning to enroll in college, encourage participation of the Latino community in higher education and professional growth and promote a productive and high-quality life.
