Highland Homes Hosts Annual Sales Award Banquet

Lakeland, FL, April 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Highland Homes hosted their annual Sales Award Banquet on Thursday, March 4th and the Lakeland Yacht Club. Among the night’s festivities, several sales managers were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and ability to rise above the negative reports in today’s media regarding the current state of the housing market.

The night began with cocktails and dinner, complete with guest motivational speaker Pat Williams who gave a rousing speech on the benefits of team work and maintaining a positive attitude. Pat Williams is the senior vice president of the NBA's Orlando Magic. Also one of America's top motivational, inspirational, and humorous speakers, he has addressed employees from many of the Fortune 500 companies and the Million Dollar Round Table. He has been a featured speaker at two Billy Graham Crusades and two Peter Lowe Success Seminars. He has also spoken on many university campuses.

The celebration continued with the recognition of several members of the Highland Homes’ Sales staff, including a surprise award for Highland Homes’ highly acclaimed Online Sales Manager of the Year, Carmen Arbizu. Carmen started her career with Highland Homes in November of 2007, and has been a valuable member of the Sales and Marketing staff, working relentlessly on providing the Sales team with quality online leads from our website and several other online mediums employed by Highland Homes.

The night’s festivities went on to include an award for Top Sales Assistant of the Year, Kay Hough. Kay started her career with Highland Homes in March 2007 as the sales assistant in the Hillsborough County community of Ayersworth Glen, only to continually impress us with her knowledge, her work ethic, and her loyalty. Kay provides daily support to our Top Sales Manager of the Year Cindy Weatherly. With over 12 million in sales in 2008, the Ayersworth Glen team has proven their stamina and tenacity on a daily basis.

Cindy Weatherly is one of only a few sales people in the state who have achieved over $12 million dollars in sales volume since the decline of the industry in 2006. Cindy sold 63 homes and closed 69 homes in 2008 for a volume of over $13 million. This is an outstanding accomplishment for any sales person.

First and second place winners of Top Sales Awards belonged to Gene Kucher, a seasoned home sales professional with an impressive amount of sales totaling over $8,000,000 during his first year with Highland Homes. Gene joined Highland Homes in late January, so his accomplished 59 sales were sold in less than 11 months. Ken Smith, a long time veteran in the housing industry, started his career here at Highland Homes on the day that Bob Adams first opened his doors in 1996. Ken has worked with Bob Adams for over 20 years and continues to provide top-notch service to all of his customers long after the sale. Ken had 38 sales with a volume of nearly 7 million and closed 40 homes for a volume of over 7 million. Doug Pike another Highland Home veteran was also awarded for his sales accomplishments. Doug works in Towne Park in Lakeland and closed 37 homes for a value of 7.5 million.

This year’s Rookie of the Year went to Denise Abercrombie. Denise joined the Highland Homes team over 10 years ago, and worked as the company comptroller for many years. As a new member of the Sales team, Denise has brought in over $4,000,000 worth of sales in her first year-noteworthy in any market-exceptional in today’s.

Highland Homes as a company sold and closed nearly 400 homes in 2008. This is exceptional given the current economy and an industry plagued with negative news. Better news yet, Highland Homes is already on track to sell more than 500 homes this year and is excited about the recent and continued success of sales it sees each month.
