SKOLKOVO Introduces Compass for New Reality

Moscow, Russia, April 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- SKOLKOVO Executive Education introduces a new programme "Compass for New Reality" and announces its first enrollment. The programme’s author is Elizabeth Sadova, Academic Director of Executive Education programmes, Professor of Organizational Behavior and Leadership at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. The “Compass for New Reality” programme is aimed at the “leaders of the future” – for companies' strategic talent pool and for young entrepreneurs who have managerial experience and plan to extend their business in the future.

The philosophy behind the “Compass for New Reality” programme is that the new situation, new opportunities and new goals challenging businesses today require initiative, rapid responsiveness and high professionalism not just from the top executive management. An important role in the development of company’s business may and will be played by the young managers with high leadership potential. The Skolkovo’s programme will assist the leaders of the new generation in developing manager’s key competences, looking at the classical disciplines of management from a new angle, determining their own leadership potential for solving the objectives of tomorrow and will draw a future movement vector.

Launching the “Compass for New Reality" Programme, SKOLKOVO sets a number of key objectives:

· to familiarize students with the traditional disciplines of governance (Management, Marketing, Finance);
· to demonstrate how business is influenced by macro and micro processes in the outside environment (Strategy);
· to provide tools for understanding economics of business functioning (Economics);
· to formulate an entrepreneurial approach to business (Entrepreneurship);
· to develop a creative approach to managing people (People Management);
· to teach analysis and structuring of large information flows (Information);
· to promote the ability to influence, persuade, communicate and present (Communication);
· to determine participants’ leadership potential (Leadership).

Elizabeth Sadova, the author of the programme: “The leaders of the new generation are very self-aware, know well their strong points and draw upon their own personal qualities to produce results. The new wave of managers will appreciate clearly the importance not only of management competence and an understanding of global trends for career growth, but also a broad perspective, outside interests and the ability to forge a career first and foremost based on personal advantage.. At the same time, egocentricity may become an insuperable hurdle – after all, it is impossible to succeed alone. When developing our programme, we took in account psychological particularities of the new leaders. The novelty of the programme is that it is adaptive. A part of the tools it incorporates will “adapt” according to the personal qualities of the participants.”

The programme will include overview lectures in the main disciplines of management, practical tasks and “real-life” business scenarios gathered from Russian and international companies, Business Simulations, masterclasses from business leaders, meetings with creative individuals, work with tutor-mentors and the creation of individual development plans.

The “Compass for New Reality” programme is modular. The overall duration of the programme is 10 days – 5 modules, each lasting 2 days, from June till November 2009. Selection of participants will be finished in May of this year. It is planned that the overall number of participants in the first group will be 25 to 30 people, but no more than 5 people per company. As a programme finale, three most successful leaders of the future will be selected from the participants of the course. Moreover, participants will receive individual recommendations for further development of their leadership potential.
