IJIS Institute Participates in Microsoft’s First Worldwide Public Safety Symposium

Ashburn, VA, April 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization focused on mission-critical information sharing, was invited to participate in MicrosoftCorp.’s first Worldwide Public Safety Symposium(PSS), April 14 - 16, 2009, at Microsoft Worldwide Headquarters in Redmond, Wa. In addition to several other important topics, the conference focused on information sharing across law enforcement and intelligence communities in order to combat crime and terrorism.

“The IJIS Institute was proud and excited to be a part of this foundational endeavor by Microsoft. It is our hope that this event, and others like it, will augment the already existing cooperation between public safety practitioners and industry,” said Paul Wormeli, executive director of the IJIS Institute. Mr. Wormeli participated in a workshop focused on the opportunities and challenges for e-justice strategies in the United States.

The goal of the Worldwide Public Safety Symposium was to provide a dynamic discussion platform for government, business, and public safety and national security leaders from across the globe. The symposium was an exceptional opportunity that brought together leaders to exchange experiences and discuss issues related to citizen safety and security, as well as to examine the role that information and communications technology (ICT) plays in achieving success in these areas.

Information sharing and e-justice initiatives are paramount to faster emergency response times, more lives saved, and more criminals apprehended. Public safety, homeland security, and justice personnel must have access to mission-critical information if they are to carry out their duties efficiently, effectively, and safely.
