Universal Hotel Liquidators Help Furnish Impoverished Schools in Gambia, Africa

New Haven, CT, April 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Recently, business owner David White of Universal Hotel Liquidators in New Haven Connecticut assisted in the opening of a second outlet store. However the location rather than the wholesale prices of this store is what makes it an inspiring topic. Traveling out of Connecticut and clear across the Atlantic Ocean to the tiny African nation of Gambia is where you’ll find this outlet store.

Gambia is the smallest country on mainland Africa. Stricken with poverty, it was not uncommon for basic amenities to be absent. Students here were not strangers to learning on dirty floors, unable to sit at desks. The notion of comfortable furniture was foreign for some Gambians. Traveling to Gambia however, White helped provide furniture to those who otherwise would not have it.

With the help of Washington & Jefferson College political science professor Buba Misawa, a native of Nigeria, White was able to help furnish schools throughout this nation. Misawa has been traveling to Gambia and neighboring Senegal every January since 2001. He brings supplies and uniforms for schools during these visits. Add David White and his business into the mix and it crafts the perfect recipe.

After his visit last year, White has worked enthusiastically with Misawa and has helped provide dozens of desks for students and schools who were in definite need of them. With these desks also comes a more conducive learning environment. The educational institution is not the only aspect affected by White’s charitable actions. David also sent over fourteen ice- machines to help keep fish fresh longer.

White has also been working with Misawa to get a non-profit project up and running, in which overstock furniture can continually be sent out of the U.S. to schools and homes throughout Gambia. Recently, with the opening of the Universal Hotel Liquidators, this idea is one step closer to becoming a reality. The opening of the store provides much needed jobs for the citizens of Gambia, as well as necessary funding to help keep the non-profit project going.

David White and Universal Hotel Liquidators provide a solid example of the change which can be made when the desire to help is present.
