NAMWOLF Reports Increase in Diversity Commitment from New York Public Entities

The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms has reported an increase in New York Public Entities joining their Corporate and Public Entity Partnering Program. Corporate and Public Entity partners commitment 5% of their outside legal counsel budgets to using minority and women-owned firms.

New York, NY, May 02, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In 2007 The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) held their Annual Meeting in New York, New York. An outcome of that meeting was a commitment by NAMWOLF to increase awareness and utilization of minority and women-owned firms by New York’s corporations and Public Entities.

“There has been a positive push for providing minority and women-owned law firms an equal opportunity to compete for New York’s outside legal work in the past few years.” Yolanda Coly, Managing Director of NAMWOLF said. “We are pleased to see New York public entities joining our Corporate and Public Entities Partnering Program – including the New York Power Authority, New York State Housing Finance Agency, New York City Law Department and New York State Dormitory Authority.”

NAMWOLF promotes diversity and building relationships through a variety of programs, including its Corporate and Public Entities Partnering Program (CPEP). Created six years ago, CPEP recognizes companies aiming to spend a minimum of 5% of their outside counsel budgets with certified minority and women-owned law firms. There is no cost to join the program.
